Description:

The Nobel Biocare Oral Health Centre at UBC uses state-of-the-art technology and an innovative architectural design to create a sophisticated, efficient space for learning, community service and research. The dental clinic in the Oral Health Centre provides the setting for the clinical practice component that is required for the completion of Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD), Dental Hygiene (RDH) and graduate programs.

Children are accepted as patients by the same process as adults through screening. The clinic does not treat children less than 5 years of age.

The UBC Dental clinic operates at reduced fees. Fees are approximately 20 to 40% less than those in the BC Dental Association Fee Guide. It is important to note that there are both Student and Graduate Program UBC fee guides. Depending on whether a student dentist/dental hygienist or a graduate resident performs the treatment, the appropriate fees will apply.

Patients with dental insurance are responsible for paying their accounts to the clinic directly and later will be reimbursed by their dental plan, except for those patients with Blue Cross Insurance coverage. Patients who qualify for government assistance should obtain the necessary authorization of eligibility before treatment begins. The clinic will collect from the government agency directly.

How it Works:

If you wish to become a UBC patient, phone (604) 822-2112. The answering system will provide some information regarding the specific procedures that are offered in the Oral Health Centre (e.g. complete dentures, implants). If you believe that you require dental treatment, you will be asked to come for a scheduled screening appointment, which could last from ½ an hour up to three hours, to determine if your needs can be met by our  dental and dental hygiene students.
