ORAL Maxillofacial Reconstruction Program (OMRP)
Description:
The focus is on patients that have had major reconstruction of the maxilla or mandible (likely as a result of trauma, cancer or a congenital abnormality) and who cannot retain their highly-specialized ADP prosthesis to restore function without implants.

Eligibility:
To be eligible, applicants must be OHIP insured and be 18 years of age and older. Individuals must also be eligible for an Assistive Devices Program Maxillofacial Intraoral Prosthesis, assessed by the treatment team to be unable to retain their ADP funded prosthesis without implants, and deemed suitable for implant surgery by the treatment team.
Coverage:
The program provides funding for 100% of the treatment costs for a defined list of services, including treatment planning, the surgical placement of dental implants and the modifications to the ADP funded prosthesis that are required to attach it to the implants.
Providers:
Oral maxillofacial surgeons, maxillofacial prosthodontists and dentists with appropriate expertise and experience, working in a team model at five designated hospital sites.
Therapeutic Responsibility:
Dentists.
Compensation:
Fee-for-service through Transfer Payment Agreements to designated hospitals. A funding cap for the year and a maximum number of patients per centre are determined by the Ministry.
How it Works:
Patients are assessed for eligibility by an oral surgeon – dentist or prosthodontist team, who provide all aspects of care.
