Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP)
Description:
The ODSP provides basic dental services to recipients and their children who are under 18 years of age. The Dental Special Care Plan provides enhanced benefits for those whose dental needs result from disability, prescribed medications or medical treatment. The Dental Special Care Program is also available to children whose parents receive Assistance for Children with Severe Disabilities. ODSP children and youth, including ACSD, will be transferred into a new HSO program beginning August 1, 2015.

Eligibility:
ODSP recipients, their spouses and dependent children;
ODSP recipients, their spouses and dependent children who are eligible for the Extended Health Benefit;
People who are eligible to receive Transitional Health Benefits;
Children who are recipients of Assistance for Children with Severe Disabilities;
Eligible ODSP recipients who reside in an institution where the institution does not cover the costs for dental services.
The following persons are not eligible for dental benefits-
Dependent adults (Ontario Works may provide coverage as discretionary benefit). Note: a dependent child is not eligible for dental benefits the month after their 18th birthday.
An ODSP Income Support recipient who resides in an institution that is funded to provide dental care services to recipients.
Coverage:
Basic dental care as defined in Ministry of Community and Social Services (MCSS) Fee Guide. Includes basic diagnostic, preventive, restorative, endodontic, periodontal, prosthodontic, oral surgery services. Dental cards provide the dentist/dental hygienist with verification that the person is eligible for the dental benefits covered by the MCSS Schedule of Dental Services and Fees and the MCSS Schedule of Dental Hygienist Services and Fees.

How it Works:
Dental cards provide the dentist/dental hygienist with verification that the person is eligible for the dental benefits covered by the MCSS Schedule of Dental Services and Fees and the MCSS Schedule of Dental Hygienist Services and Fees.
Dental cards are mailed with the monthly entitlement cheque/statement and cover dental care benefits for the following month.
